Password-protect and unlock PDFs locally
The Protect PDF with Password tool encrypts a document with AES-256 — the strongest encryption the PDF standard defines — directly in your browser. Set a password, download the encrypted copy, and send it knowing only someone with the password can open it. The Remove PDF Password tool does the reverse for files you own: enter the current password once and download an unlocked copy, so a report you open every week stops demanding the password every time. Neither operation requires an account or adds a watermark, and Utilshut imposes no file-size limit of its own — though very large PDFs can exceed your browser's memory.
The no-upload design is the whole point with PDFs. The documents people password-protect — contracts, payslips, medical records, tax filings — are exactly the ones that should never be posted to an unknown server, yet most free PDF sites work by uploading your file first and promising to delete it later. These tools run the cryptography in JavaScript on your own machine instead. You can verify the claim directly: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tools keep working.
Fill and sign PDFs without Acrobat
The PDF Form Filler lets you fill interactive form fields directly on a preview of each page, and when a PDF has no real form fields — a scanned paper form, say — you can place text anywhere on the page instead. The Sign PDF tool adds a signature you draw with a mouse, trackpad or finger, or one you upload as an image, and positions it on any page at any size. Together the two replace the print, sign, scan routine for the everyday case of returning a signed form by email, with the signed file assembled on your device rather than on someone’s server.
